So, what is hype?

Hyping is all about helping emerging YouTube channels grow by connecting them with new audiences. Emerging creators - those with under 500K subscribers - have struggled to feel support from fans beyond  "likes." Hype give fans a more active stake in their favorite creators' success.

How does it work?

In the first 7 days after a video is published, you can "hype" the video to help others discover it. The more hype it gets the higher it climbs on a new leaderboard with the top 100 hyped videos from the week. Anybody can hype up to three times per week. In the future, we plan to allow fans to purchase additional hypes, unlocking another revenue stream for creators, too.

Through the leaderboard, casual users are finding new, fresh content that they aren’t finding on their own homepage. Strong fans feel like they're helping their favorite, under-appreciated creators grow, and creators feel the support from their community. Creators also see the impact from the new exposure – they can find new viewers that are likely to be interested in their content through the different verticals on the leaderboard.
